Hello!
I write from Sweden and have a topic which I think is old here. But as I am new I dare to ask. I have diabetes type2 and have had it for three years!
I know what to eat and drink and what not to!
But I am so bored with drinking stuff that very often has no taste or little taste. I am not talking about alcoholic beverages but what to drink for dinner or when just want something to drink! I am open for tips which are not extreme!

I find plain water work well at any time. Maybe with a slice of lemon or ginger. Or fizzy water.

Dry wine is good for bg control :)

Hello ... I actually enjoy plain water, which surprises me after years of sweet drinks.
I've found that as I stop eating and drinking strong artificial flavours (fruit squash, processed sauce) more subtle natural tastes come through.
I'm trying not to replicate old habits, but to find new ones.
When I ask for water with a meal, people seem anxious to put something in it, so a twist of lemon is fine. I believe diet drinks are ok for us but to me that's old thinking in a different hat.
PS I don't drink alcohol at all.

Hello DeejayR
I think we think in same way. My taste is much better now but I try to watch for new possibilities! I do not drink alcohol either. I tested elderberry juice which I do not think has any sugar content !

Sugar-free squash adds flavour if you don't like drinking plain tap water, green tea is also nice and refreshing.

herb tea
green tea
normal tea
chai
teeccino (4 g carbs/cup)
coffee
low carb hot chocolate
water
fizzy water
fizzy water flavoured with low carb cordials, flavoured drops (google 'Aromhuset'), lemon juice, lime juice
bovril (beef or chicken)
broth (beef, chicken, veg...)
effervescent Sambucol tabs (and probably other brands)
coconut water
sugar free sodas
spirits and wine

Interesting that you should start this thread.
I've recently decided that I should be drinking more, and that the reason I wasn't drinking enough, was that I had lapsed back into bad habits and being 'bored' with my options.
So I have decided to only have a different flavour every drink for a couple of days. It is certainly making things more interesting!

Thank you for great tips! I saw the link "Aromhuset". This is a Swedish company. If you need translation I can help! Swedish is quite tricky! I will try go through your options!
