Hi folkes,
I had my 6 mnthly appt today and can honestly say that in my 6yrs as a diabetic it was the most productive.
I have been trying to learn how to carb count through a course online. Also I had sourced another carb counting course at a hospital nearby as I had been told the last time I asked that my hospital didnt do them. I went in armed with this information ready to ask my Dr to refer me for this course at the said hospital.
As soon as I mentioned carb counting he said that they could offer me a version of this course at my hospital with the dietician and DSN. ( It may not be as intensive )
My HBA1C had not reduced much
which I thought it would have as I had been having too many hypos as a result of me loosing alot of weight and not reducing my basal. Which I have now addressed thanks to the carb counting course online.
He also seemed to have an action plan set out ( which has not been evident before )
The carb counting info course
Followed by my Diabetes Nurse to help me specificaly with this (I havent seen a Diabetes nurse for a good few yrs.)
She will also give me a 1/2 dose pen ( previously mentioned ) So I asked about it.
If neccessary splitting my levemir
And as a last resort a pump.
This does not mean that I now think I will get a pump as I am hoping that the initial measures will be successful, especially the carb counting and half dosage pen. So pleased!!!
I know my A1c hasn't reduced but at least I can see a structured plan
)
