I was diagnosed with type one at Christmas time after a short stay in hospital and have been taking basal and blouse ever since. After seeing my consultant in a checkup yesterday he told me I was actually type 2 and can probably come off insulin soon.
I'm obviously really happy about this as I have the opportunity to reverse this as much as possible but I'm also slightly annoyed they could tell me I'm type 1 in the first place.
At the moment I'm now on 10 lantus, 6 novarapid with meals, 1000mg metformin and they're just putting me on viktoza. The hope is the viktoza will replace the insulin and also help lose weight.
So first, yey! Second, anyone else on viktoza? What's it like and will I want to eat less ? I've been controlling my diet since finding out about my diabetes and eating the right things but I've always struggled with portion control.
