Good news for Libre users, I think

Does it have to be via a consultant as opppsed to a gp ???
Again as I said previously, my GP said it is out of their expertise if I have any concerns with my diabetes. They based their prescriptions medications off the consultant's letter. I tend to find GP's advice is not as knowledgeable. For my DSN, she was very honest and said she can recommend the new technologies but it is the consultant that has to approve funding for it. Same case for CGMs and insulin pumps.

The NHS are making funds available for based on a 20% uptake by region. It does not mean that more than this cannot be provided with Libre on prescription, only that this is all the funding that is being given and so any additional cost would need to be met by local area.

Certainly true where I am - GP just following recommendation from consultant at diabetes centre. Makes sense given they’re the experts though I guess it is then down to their attitude on the benefits of CGMs - mine is very much championing the roll out.

My DSN gave me one almost straight away (diagnosed 10 days ago) as I had a lumpectomy on my right side and so can only do finger pricks on LHS.
