I rang the doctor yesterday to find out what the last reading for my blood test was and they use a different system and the reading was 77 which was of no help to me, but during the conversation I mentioned I was trying to keep a check on my blood sugar and nearly everyone on this site recommended getting a meter, and being I had asked the surgery for one and I was told they only gave them to diabetes 1 patients. So I bought my own, so he asked me if I wanted a prescription for the strips and lances bearing in mind prescriptions are free in Wales I jumped at the chance! Then he asked me to call into the surgery to get a prescription and he said if the chemist doesn’t stock the items I need for my particular meter I could have a meter from them so I am delighted. My fasting test this morning was 10.4 still to high I know but it’s the lowest its been since I started testing on Monday.

Good news ........ remember to check before the first bite, at 1 hour and at 2 hours. Then rule out what does not agree with you.

Fasting readings are damned hard to control (you won't always get 10.4 .... could be lower, could be higher) but you are ON YOUR WAY :)
