Hi
Could someone please tell me what would be considered to be good snacks for type 2 prediabetic and is it advisable to have something during the evening before bedtime.
I have read that small meals little and often is the way to go with diabetes...not always possible... or three main meals a day with snacks in between but not sure what they should be. I have a low fat diet for raised cholesterol..not got much of a sweet tooth..I hardly eat any white carbs and my bread now is usually wholemeal or Burgens but looking for a good low carb bread recipe
maybird you are asking the exact same questions I would! I am eating nuts and cheese for snacks but could do with some more ideas. Mt cholesterol was high too. the GP said that could be because of the high bs. I am hoping that if I lose weight, my bs will fall and so will my cholesterol so I am not doing low fat. All the sugar I have stopped eating has to make a difference!

Yes seems we are both the same prediabetics and not really knowing what we should or should not eat.
I do eat nuts as a snack but wanted to have something else as well.I do love cheese of all types and have the low fat ones I don't need to loose weight I am only 8st 10/12 Ib I lost some this year going from 9st 3lb to what I am now. We have had our dog for a year so I am walking her every day hence the weight loss I think
I have a glucose meter now but still not used it but will try later today
Exactly I don't really know what I am doing! We have a dog too and I walk him most days for an hour but the GP said I needed to do more. We have a cross trainer coming tomorrow so hopefully that will bring the weight and bs sugar down.

Good luck with the cross trainer. When I told my doctor I walked the dog for 1/2 to 1 hour every day she was happy with that but then I am 74 so to start doing any really vigorous excercise now would not be very good
My trigs dropped from 5.2 to 1.7 within 8 weeks of stopping sugar intake. MY GP had always asked me about my alcohol intake and appeared not to believe me when I said it was minimal. He never asked about sugar.
After diagnosis I discovered that the levels of triaglycerides in the liver and then pancreas cause diabetes. Reading on why trigs get elevated, I discovered that sugar is one reason. At 1.7 is was still higher than normal but it was falling, rapidly as it happens.
