got my hba1c

Hi all,
see my doctor before xmas regarding trapped nerve and he said i should have had a hba1c done so promptly sent me off for one alongside many others like liver function and fasting glucose and cholesterol.
well today i rang the receptionist at my gp surgery to find out and was told no action is required so i asked what the hba1c resault was but she did not have a clue what i was on about and said she is not qualified to tell me she said it was 7.1 but not sure if it is fasting glucose or hba1c :? hopefully its hba1c as i believe thats a good one but may stand corrected as this is my first hba1c. :D hope you all had a great new year..Rob
 
You have a right to your test result, so ask for a print out.
HbA1c 7.1% isn't bad. Especially for a first one.

7.1 is either good, bad or indifferent depending upon where you look!

Modern medical thinking is that a 6.5 or above result needs treatment, either by diet and excercise or medication.

You need to see your Doctor and discuss it with him/her.

I would think another Hba1c is possible and maybe a glucose tolerance test, ask the Doc. for a diagnosis, it should be straightforward and will help you make your choices.

My Diabetic Nurse put me on Metformin after a result of 7.

As Hanna said, 7.1 is not bad, but it not good either, remember, the earlier you start treatment and the better you control you BG the better the long term prognosis is.

i was diagnosed type 2 december 2010,
i went to my surgery today and they can not find the resaults but said it said my acr was raised ??
so im going to see if i can get an appointment with my dn to hopefully throw some light on it.
i feel like i'm not allowed to monitor myself only they can or they think i'm not capeable. :x
why is it so difficult.

hi was told over phone hba1c 7.1 fasting bg 7.3 and liver is ok and another presumeably cholesterol was a bit high :?
