Type of diabetes
Type 2
Treatment type
Diet only
....and taken my first reading, before eating dinner 7.5.......so I'll take another reading 2 hrs after I've eaten is that reasonable?

I'm type 2 officially diagnosed last Friday - the 13th of course lol.
I'm trying diet control only just see how I fair, but if I need meds, then so be it.

4 to 7mmol/l before meals
less than 10mmol/l 90 minutes after a meal
around 8mmol/l at bedtime.

If you can stay in around these readings with diet your doing well if you can't your doctor may need to start you on some medication good luck and remember to keep a cool head and not get stressed out over the situation as stress will mess up your readings

That's the hard part Sorted, I'm trying not to stress - but I am a bit of a worrier. I'm trying to be positive though, no point in flapping and not doing anything about it I suppose.
Mince and tatties for tea, I'm having mince and brocolli :)

Ahh activity!!! Now that's another issue. I am by my own admission heart lazy, but Im planning to start gently and work up - walking and possibly Tai chi just to get me off the couch.

Good I'm gonna be getting some more exercise myself this year poor dogs gonna have sore feet

NICE guidelines for T2s are 8.5 after 2 hours, but many on diet control see that as too lax and go for 7.8 or less. But it depends on where you are starting from. Try and keep your +2 spikes no more than 2.0 higher than the start reading.

Hmmmm not sure this is right just done my 2 hr since dinner reading and it was 6.8, how can that be right if my before reading was 7.5 - confused!!

Lol - minced beef with onion and carrot through it, the gravy was made with oxo, tomato purée and Worcester sauce ohh and I had broccoli - it can't be right can it?

Sounds like you have Reactive hypoglycaemia basically I don't know a lot about it (sorry) its when your bloods go down instead of up after meal times

It's not what I was expecting!! I can't just be straight forward can I?

Sounds like to me your pancreas is producing too much insulin after meals

Yeah I'll go along with that one for now keep monitoring and keep a log of your readings so you can show your doctor
