Hi all.

Phoned my surgery today as I haven't had a reminder to go for bloods for my annual type 1 review.

I was told that they no longer send reminders out, it's up to you to book when you think it's time.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that the
NHS needs to save money, but isn't this just penny pinching at it's worst.

I'm not senile yet but this means one more reminder on my chalk board and, hopefully, OH won't rub it off

You can't really rely on HCPs to look after you. Use a calendar app for all your important dates and reminders.

I have always reminded my GP when my next blood test is due, he then gives me the correct blood request form for the pathology shop down at the private hospital just down the road from me.

They used to text me a couple of days later when the results were back, but that seems to have stopped for some reason.

It seems old people cannot understand mobile phones according to the young receptionist at the practice. I found this out after they sent me a letter to make an appointment to get the blood test form.

Told here I was way in front of her and already been there and done it, tests done and results given out, I also told her I was a old people on my third smart phone.

Hi. My surgery has never reminded me. I go away with a blood form at the current review and then organise the phlebotomist and review appointments.

It's nearly but not quite a nanny state so no need to tip it over the edge. It's your condition so you need to manage it not the GP sending reminders
