Hi
I am being forced to change my insulin this year as Levemir is being discontinued.
It was all sorted but the surgery had changed my prescription to the throw away type syringe and not the penfill type.
I had an appointment about something else and brought this to the GPs attention.
I got my pen out of my pocket and explained the memory function and the fact i have 2 novopens 1 blue 1 red.
My GP admitted she had never seen a novopen and was unaware of the memory function.
She changed my prescription whilst i was there.

Its a tiny matter on the grand scale of things but i felt i had helped her understanding of this condition of ours.

Very few GPs have more than a passing knowledge of T1 and the gadgets we now have.

Occasionally I get asked about what I do, and why - they usually understand the high level and ask more details questions, but rarely understand the low level stuff. I usually hope they don't challenge me as it just ends up in pointless 'get a letter from the consultant' so they can file the 'we are not responsible' admin trail.

Glad you got what you needed - my GPs just asks for a consultant letter, even if its as straight forward as your request. My own fault for being a 'tad' complicated on how I run my T1

I don't see a consultant or DSN.
I just ask my GP very politely and they usually oblige.
The surgery is ranked in the top 10 according to the CQC.
The levemir to Tresiba change was sorted between the practice nurse and pharmacist.
I had to laugh when the pharmacist phoned me as he sounded about 12!

I try to navigate my way up the tree of life without bothering anybody and would be a bit lost without....

Freestyle libre
4 mm needles
