Green Smoothies how long do they last

If you make a green smoothie and don't drink it all at once do you keep it and drink it later. I often have one but if I do make to much for one full glass I usually throw the rest away I always understood that if you do juicing because the fruit or veg you use has no preservatives they loose their good properties very soon after making them and should be drunk straight away so I assumed it was the same with smoothies but some recipes I saw make enough for a few glasses so does it keep ok in the fridge

My daughter in law (not diabetic btw) freezes hers but I will tag @Brunneria who will tell us if that's not a good idea, and more facts.

Hi,

(Thanks @DeejayR )

They are supposed to be good for 24 hours in the fridge. But i think there is a definite deterioration in taste and texture after only 12 hours. I wouldn't drink one, even refrigerated, after then.

However, they freeze beautifully, and if you want to keep one out of a fridge, freezing it and letting it defrost until you need it, is a good idea. Good for travelling, like this.

They say never to drink them after they have been sitting at room temperature for a while.

I saw a you tube video of a woman who went away for the weekend, with a coolbox of frozen green smoothies in the boot of her car. 3 hours before she wanted one, she took it out to thaw in the car. Worked perfectly.
