I was diagnosed as Type 1 at age 28. I am now 67 and was told I am now both types! And lately they try to say I am now putting out some insulin. Crazy, anyone heard of that?
I had my right leg amputated below the knee 7 years ago after every attempt to heal a cut from a boot insert cut under a hammer toe.

Now I'm dealing with a wear injury on my other foot. So far the ring toe has been amputated and am on IV antibiotics trying to heal a nasty wound where the toe was.
My blood sugars have always been difficult to control and A1C has never been below 8 or 9.

Of my 12 brothers & sisters I was the only one to get Type 1 diabetes. Which came on shortly after returning from the Navy aircraft carrier Hornet in 1970. I did refuel helecopters flying agent orange but since I never set foot on Vietnam soil this is not covered by service related benefits.

I was in country for a year. I'm 100% disabled due to Agent Orange. I think you should file your claim and keep appealing their decision. I had to use DAV as my advocate because it seems VA only wants to delay until we die. Last year VA started recognizing some who served in the Air Force. We can all remember how everyone spilled chemicals and never bothered to clean up. You need to fight them and get others to help with your fight. They pay from the time you file your claim. Appeal and keep appealing. Please

Hi @Dennis47 ,

Welcome to the forums. I'm saddened to read your story but I'm not qualified to comment on any links with Agent Orange. Having not heard of this before I did quick bit of reading and you may find this useful if you haven't seen it already......

With regards to your Hba1c, have you been given any dietary advice ? Modified or reduced your carb intake at all?
