Hello there,

I have been lurking on this forum for quite some time and have found it to be an incredibly useful source of information.

I was initially diagnosed as a Type 2 two years ago and went through the cycle of oral meds quickly losing effectiveness. I was on the max daily dose of metformin and gliclazide until two months ago and felt quite awful for most of that time.

I managed to persuade my GP (with them also consulting an Endo) to request a GAD antibody and C-Peptide test. GAD came back positive and I am now classed as a late onset Type 1.

I was immediately started on insulin and have felt much better. I am eating under 50g of carbs a day and am only on 20 units of Lantus, which seems to do the trick for now. My levels have never been better, between 5 and 8 consistently.

Thanks to all of you for the discussions over the years. You have certainly helped me in my travels so far!

Cheers

Hello and welcome @Acheron05 , have a look at the 1.5/ LADA section which could be helpful.

That's a relief you now have the correct diagnosis.....

Well done for spotting it.....
