Hello, my name is Mike and I am a type 2 diabetic successfuly controlling by a veggie diet without medication. I live in the North-East of England and am one of two Patient Safety Champions in the region on the Strategic Health Authority's patient safety committee. I have done a lot of volunteering on behalf of patients trying to repay the NHS for all the wonderful help and treatment I have had for several long-term chronic conditions which also includes epilepsy. I am just back from an event organised by Epilepsy Action and I was able to ask a neurologist speaker whether they thought that my epilepsy might have been caused by diabetes changing my brain chemistry and they thought that was a possibility. One of my interests is healthy eating for people with diabetes and I think that what we eat is so important for staying healthy. Cheers, Mike.
