Hello,

I'm Si. Last week I was told I was a type 2 diabetic. BIt of a ****** really as I'm currently under going treatment for stage 3 testicular cancer and this was found during testing for some side effects from chemo. Oh well right :-D

I thought I'd join and say hello as I've gleaned plenty of info from both the site and the forum. Currently trying a somewhat less restrictive LCHF diet with upto 120g carbs per day, downside is I'm in surgery soon so will have to put that on hold as I'll need to go low fat for a while.

On the upside the diet looks pretty good, something I don't think I'll much problem adjusting to as I love meat and salads ;-) And thank you all for the info you've given me!

See you on t'forums

Ta,

Si

Hope all, goes well with your surgery ...
Look after yourself and look forward to chatting to you soon ...Kat

Hi si, hope all goes well for your continued treatment, i'm having op on wed' for prostate cancer, please keep posting and let us know how you are,i have been on the lchf regime since sept 14, and it works well my weight has dropped by three and half stones my bloods now down from 28.6 to an ave' now of 5.0 ::))

Awesome Clive! Glad it works. To be honest this gives me something else to think about rather than the last ten months of cancer this and cancer that haha :)

LCHF is really working for me (against the fact my head cant compute it). The levels of fat seems crazy but it does make sense and I feel pretty good a few days in. Can't help wanting some bread though, mmmm white as a sheet stack of Warburtons hahaha.

Thanks all and good luck for wednesday Clive. I'd say I'll be thinking about you however I'll be in the same place, unconscious and being poked and prodded in places no one should need to go ;-) Hope you have a speedy recovery chap!

Hi Si, welcome :). You've got a lot going on at the moment, good luck with it all and hopefully we can help and support you with some of it.

Si and Clive, best wishes for your surgery and hope all turns out well.

Hiya Si and welcome! My very best wishes for your surgery and continued treatment.

Is your avatar one of my childhood best friends, Cookie Monster? :D :D :D

Eh up Si :) i hope your treatment goes well, look forward to seeing you about. Nice avatar.

Certainly is :) So who's got a recipe for carrot cookies? lol

Carrot cookies.........hmmmm........I don't know. ;)

As a child who grew up with Sesame Street:

C is for cookie; that's good enough for me
C is for cookie; that's good enough for me
C is for cookie; that's good enough for me
OH! Cookie! Cookie! Cookie starts with "C"! :D :D :D :D

Hi Si and welcome,

You are right to say its a bit of a ****** being found diabetic whilst undergoing chemo. Double whammy. I had my first annual "all clear so far" from breast cancer, and 4 days later was diagnosed T2, so that cut my celebrations a bit short. One good thing though, the T2 diagnosis took my mind totally off the "cancer might spread" thoughts, and still does today. 2 years on now, and still all clear so far, so the surgery, dreadful chemo, radiotherapy and 3 weekly Herceptin infusions for 12 months was all worth it. (fingers crossed)

You seem to have the right attitude and positivity. Keep reading, keep learning, keep posting, and all the very best for your surgery and on-going treatment.

Hopefully this surgery will be the end of a very long road. Get the surgery done, hopefully get back to work sometime this year and get smashing my diabetes and my bloods under control.

Nice to meet you all and thank you for being so welcoming :)
