Guilt

i am pre diatbetic have been for over two years now.
I know the foods more or less that raise my blood sugar and avoid them.
It's a balancing act though because I am not overweight size 12 and doc says I need to keep at about 9 stone and a half, my last 3 month blood test was 42 which is just pre diabetic.

My diet is not adventurous quite plain but I manage and still enjoy food but I am on holiday at the moment and although I very rarely eat deserts the hotel as the most wonderful cheese cake home made and to die for.

I have enjoyed two serving over the last 10 days and feel such an idiot risking my blood sugar rising to unacceptable levels. I don't have my meter with me so don't know but it's got to be high.

I guess most members are tempted when on holiday, it's very difficult to stay on the strict diet when not at home.

There is typically 20-25% carb in a good tasty cheesecake.

Not sure what a pre-diabetic or type2 can do if not having oral medication/insulin.

But please stop feeling guilty. Nothing wrong with desires or living them out.
We only live once and also need some pleasures in life. Including great food.
Personally I would take 2 units Novorapid 30 minutes before enjoying my cheesecake. :)

Enjoy your cheesecake you are on holiday, its how you eat most of the time that matters. Try not to stress out and might I add well done, if it was me I would most probably have had more than two slices.
