Gurmar tea

Has anyone heard about this? Gymnema gurmar a herb which supposedly can hp type 2 diabetes and in losing weight.
Has anyone taken it? Does it help and is it safe, especially if taking other medications.

Sounds like the usual snake oil to me but doubt its harmful..
Cutting carbs to an absolute minimum would be a far better treatment in my opinion.
