Can someone please give me an average blood glucose reading if an HA1C is 5.8 and 6.6, my two friends have just had their check up, they do not test themselves yet, thank you for yor help.

hba1c 5.8 = just below 7mmol/l (average)
hba1c 6.6 = around 7.5mmol/l

How does your glucose level compare with your HbA1c
Taken from the Birmingham med-web site:-

HbA1c levels by coincidence nearly equate to glucose levels. So an HbA1c level of 10% means the average glucose level for the previous 10 weeks was 13mmol/l.

But at lower levels there is even less difference, so an HbA1c of 7% means the average glucose level was 8mmols/l.

Thank you for your replys, I will pass this on to my neighbours, they are both quite eldery as I said they do not self test they are quite good at their diet, they go for short walks every day and are othewise healthy. Thank you on their behalf.
