Hi, so I went to the doctor on Friday because I was having problems with my period. So the doctor suggested a blood test to test for things like, thyroid, iron levels, liver ect and I asked her if she can test for diabetes too at the same time. I called her this morning and she said I don't have diabetes and that all of my results are fine. My question is, is a blood test enough to diagnose type 2 diabetes? I don't know exactly what test they did for it.

Under normal circumstances a blood test can rule out Type 2 Diabetes (it takes two HbA1c tests to confirm diagnoses of T2). If you are able to view your test results online you could post them here, some members are able to give further advice on 'borderline' results. Hope this helps.

Just to add, do not stop seeing your doctor to find out the underlying cause of your sumptoms. Good luck.

I'm not sure if my tests are available online. Would I have to ask my doc?

You can ask at reception. Practices are now required to offer the online service but some are slow in doing so. You will be required to take in forms of ID and photo ID but the process is quick and no need to see the GP specifically.
