Hi there. I am feeling really down and stressed as I seem to be losing a hell of a lot of hair each day. I was diagnosed at the end of August this year but for some reason my hair has been falling out for a few weeks now. Is this happening to anyone else? I am on levemir and novorapid. I would really appreciate it if you could give me some tips to prevent more hair loss :)

Hello Abby's myhair has been falling out for a few years, and had no reason given for it.
I do not have Alapeaca? blood test confirmed that, so I am going very thin on the top and can see my pink scalp through the last few hairs. Will have to ask some pressing questions at the doctors tomorrow(today), and see what I get told.
If the hair loss is a natural then the body will correct it, but how long that will take is a mystery to me, and although I have looked up things, not had much look. A lot has to do with the food in-take and the vitamins and minerals that are a part of it. But also the medications and such that we all take must have some effects on the body's repair of the vital parts of our bodies, will be looking into this again and see what I find, till then, the comb over is being improved!!, ttfn Karen

Hi Karen that is a shame. Do you have type1? What blood tests did they do on you? I had a thyroid test but that seemed to be ok. It's just horrible seeing clumps of hair constantly coming out and there is nothing anyone can do. They don't seem to take it seriously. I am seeing a doctor tomorrow too. Hopefully they will prescribe me something. I must admit i still eat chips, doughnuts and chocolate. Perhaps I should stop that. Let me know what they say to you. Good luck x

Hi Abby, I am type 2, and have had many blood tests. Just heard that my latest thyroid test results have come back not right, so now have to go back to the doctors on 24th Christmas Eve to see what is what. I have had an under active thyroid for many years and been taking the Levothyroxine since about 2008 ish. The diabetes annual check up was not done as has been in previous years, didn't even do the sharp pin into the feet, good or what??.
So now the game goes to do we change the dose then retest in 2 months, or stay as we are and retest in 3 months??? According to the print out I may be taking too much levothyroxine, the T4 is too high, but the TSH is too low???, more research is needed for this one. If I get to see the diabetes specialist doctor before all this then I will ask him, and see he decides.
As for my hear, is it thyroid related?, or do I have another shortage of something or other?!!
I wonder should I buy a scarf or a wig?? Will ask questions at next visit, so for now ttfn, Karen
