Has thinning hair anything to do with type 1 diabetics or is it just hereditary. Would appreciate any views on this or any tips to help hair thinning. Thank you in advance.

I've had type1 for 51 years and am now coming up to 67 and still got a full head of hair , I think it's more likely to be hereditary . My dad who was not diabetic had a bald head by the age of 40 .

Yes and no…. I was told by my GP that diabetes can cause some hair loss, especially undiagnosed because the body put more effort into repairing itself than growing hair

I have some hair loss, my dad has full hair of hair we are both T1

I have low testosterone which can also cause hair loss

Now as I said.. so many illnesses could be tied to hair loss in both men and women because critical functions are more important than new hair

Also sleep / hydration / food can all have an effect

And again in men there are strong genetic links
