Has anybody noticed that when you take a blood sugar reading after applying hand or body lotion readings can be up to 3 units higher? My friend told me about this and I tried it for myself and it is true.

Any residue on our fingers can cause erratic readings, from hand cream to food particles, from alcohol (from wipes) to sweat and water. That's why we should always wash our hands in soap and water, then rinse and dry well before testing.

Yes, that would make sense. Anything on our fingers will affect our readings, which is why it is essential to wash hands immediately before taking a finger prick.
