Hi just a quick ask does anyone use hand cream for tips of fingers after testing mine getting really sore haven't had trouble in past so don't know whats going on testing about 6 times daily any answers please cheers?
 
I don't use any hand cream specifically for my fingertips but I do use aqueous cream on my hands to prevent them drying out and cracking around the knuckles.

Does your finger pricker have an adjustable length, if it is too deep it may be causing soreness. Also are you testing on the sides of your fingers and not the pads?
 
I use tea tree ointment if I have a problem but rotate your fingers as well
 
High thanks for replying yes I do test on sides of fingers both hands finger pricker set quite low it seems it's worst on left hand my stroke side dry skin etc is there any reason why diabetics can't use hand cream just wondering? not seeing doc till 10 march will mention it then thanks again.
 
I don't think there is a problem using hand cream. I certainly do.
I think what you'd have to be careful of is applying it just before you test.. it might affect the result ?
 
Ok thanks I will get some hand cream make sure I wash hands before testing thanks again.
 

Wasn't aware we couldn't use hand cream, there's some foot creams that you shouldn't use but hand creams are fine as far as I know, obviously you'd need to wash the cream off before bg testing.

The best hand cream I've used for dry cracked hands is Neutrogena.
 
Agree with @Freema I use coconut oil on my hands and on my lips to stop cracking I also roast my veg in it !!

I like Body Shop Hemp cream or Atrixo Regenerating Treatment, among others.
