Hey, @Outlier .
I haven’t bothered ironing for years, due to having painful arthritis in spine and hands.
Can’t recommend a steamer, though I do have a cheap one for cleaning oven. So I guess placing items that are creased could be put on a hanger and have a quick run over with steam.
To avoid ironing, I put clean line dried laundry ( not bone dry, perhaps a little damp still) in the tumble drier with a damp cloth, and run on low heat for five to ten minutes. This works well if they have not been on fast spin, as there are fewer creases, especially if there is a bit of a breeze when they are on the washing line. Remove the laundry immediately the drier stops. Then whilst it is still warm hang on hangers, or fold. Creases have gone as if by magic.
I do confess that for any formal occasions I sometimes persuade someone else to iron shirts, but generally they seldom need that much attention.
