Hello,

I have just joined the forum. I have type 2 and was diagnosed 3 years ago. My blood sugar is well controlled on metformin but I have pain, sensitivity and sensations in my hands and feet. I am wondering if anyone else has this experience as the doctors don't seem to make a connection between the two probably because I am well controlled. It's worse when I am stressed or tired. It's not severe but it is nearly always there.

HI ,
Welcome to the forum, sorry i cant answer your question but im sure someone soon will be along to help:)

So what does the Dr say is the cause of the pain, if your not happy then I'd ask to see another gp and get a second opinion.

It depends on what kind of pain(s) you're experiencing, I would have thought.

I have a pins and needles sensation in my feet / hands and occasional, shooting pains or a short lived sharp throbbing pain from time to time, which has been diagnosed as Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy, in other words nerve damage in my extremities, this was misdiagnosed at first - so it may be worth your while asking a doctor to rule this out. If it is DPN, it is treatable.

Yes thanks I think I will. I also read that statins can also cause peripheral neuropathy so I may look into that as well. Thanks for the info :)
