There's some information about the X-Pert course in the following, also if you type X-Pert into the forum search facility you should find some previous discussions on the course:

http://www.xperthealth.org.uk/

The course was written by a lady called Dr Trudi Deakin, she also spoke at the DUK Conference in Liverpool earlier this year, DUK did a follow-up feature on their website soon after:

Good luck and hope you enjoy and learn something from the course.

Thanks for that! I'll go read up xx

Mine starts on Wednesday afternoon, luckily work are ok with me having 6 Wednesday afternoons off work!

Lucky you! Hope it goes well.

I've just looked on the site and they do prevention courses too. Why or why doesn't the nhs send prediabetics there?

Part 1 of X-pert course complete, it was all about what goes on in the body if you are diabetic, the difference between T1 & T2, what the different test results mean and details about medication. I think the worse bit was, it's a large class (16 and should have been more) and they varied from 2-3 month diagnosis like me and some who were diagnosed years ago!

Thanks kaz! My doc said they had old and new people to help share thoughts and ideas. Fine in theory but if it's a massive group, it could be tricky to get a word in.

Suppose it's better than nowt!
