Has anyone had success with Victoza?

Hi

I am potentially moving from forxiga to Victoza

I was wondering if anyone has any success stories or advice?

Many thanks

I have prescribed a lot of victoza and generally it worked really well. As well as the gluocse reduction and weight reduction, there is a useful rduction in risk of heart attack and stroke, which is not seen with the other daily GLP-RAs.
Some folk get nausea on it and a few get diarrhoea - one can generally cope with this by reducing the dose and gently increasing again - the advantage of the pen is 10 clicks = 0.6 mg, so one can increase the dose by 1-2 clicks at a time rather than 0.6 mg if needed; other GLP-1 RA pens are low dose and high dose with no possibility of gentle increase.
Also some people seem very happy on it - there may be GLP-1 receptors in the brain that do this.
People eat less, and initially try to force the food down to start with, so you soon end up preparing smaller meals.
I hope it works well for you
best wishes

Hi. I have no experience of Victoza but can I ask what your diet is as it's always best to have a low-carb diet and avoid Victoza if possible.

Hi Simon

Thank you for your advice
