I wanted to ask and see if I am alone in this, but I have stopped testing for the past month. I eat low carb, high fat. I have been under a tremendous amount of stress in my life but things are better now. I. Had to stop testing because my sugars were high and because of my highly anxious state this made the readings a whole lot worse! I am waiting to see the nurse and get an hba1c done this month, the last one was 51 so I'm hoping for a reduction. I understand the importance of testing a new food but I felt that as I'm doing my best there's not a lot more I would be able to do anyway. (if that makes sense). Hope to get some feedback, thnx

hi, i've felt like this also, was having a stressful time and higher readings, i stopped as no new foods, i went to the nurse on monday i've dropped to pre diabetic, so i worried for nothing, nurse was happy still no meds, she is seeing me every 3 months (that was my second visit), i think if we're doing all we can with diet and exercise, the other things like stress we have to learn to manage, which is the difficult one for me, the weather we can't do a thing about. so don't get wound up, you may have a pleasant surprise like me all the best

Good luck with your HbA1c and let us know how you go on. You have to do what is right for you, and if testing stresses you out, then don't do it.

Thanks so much for replying, Jill you've really encouraged me. Bluetit it I'll let you know how it goes. Many thanks

i'm learning to do something about the things i can and acept the things i can't, i'll watch out for your results, keep calm, you can do it

I find testing very reassuring. My BG levels are becoming more and more predictable, the more testing I do.

But I don't currently have massive stress or an infection, or other factors influencing things.

The last time I had a virus, the first sign it was brewing was my fasting BG snapping up to 8.5 (where it stayed for 3 days). Next time it happens I will coddle myself better and faster. :)
