Has anyone tried a Low Carb or Ketogenic diet while pregnant?

On 6 of my pregnancies I followed their advice and ended up on very high amounts of insulin.
Last pregnancy I was already low carbs (as close to 0 as possible) and was in ketosis. Baby was the healthiest of all my kids and NEVER needed any medication.
This pregnancy was a weird one, I had a huge stress and was unable to follow my diet due to food aversions and sickness, then I was in a country where the low carbs food wasn't available for about a month... I can back I'm back on my diet but I'm also on insulin... babies tummy is already big and I am really fed up as my bgl seemed to rise further the more insulin I inject (like I'm injecting sugar and bit insulin!?). I told the midwife I will be testing more often so I can get a better view on what my bgl are doing during the day so I can have better control! Diabetic midwife told me not to do that, don't test more than 4 times in a day and to add some more carbs to my diet as that would reduce my bgl!!! Even my dh has to roll his eyes at that and he was very worried about me going low carb before... I just said yes but will be carrying on low carb and ignoring their advice... I was even told babies don't like the acidic conditions ketosis and low carbs diets create... my last baby was just fine and very happy and healthy and still is.
IDK what they are thinking but the advice given doesn't suit me, my body or my babies.
