Not being able to eat as many chocolate digestives as I used to.
So my partner is Asian - she comes from the Philippines and before my T1 diagnosis I went there with her a few times. Each time I returned to blighty with loads of insect bites - mainly from mosquitos - (they are 'unlikely' to be carrying malaria in the northern islands). I always used plenty of repellent but it didn't seem to make a huge amount of difference to ME despite being highly recommended by other customers on Amazon.

With high humidity it is really difficult and somewhat unpleasant to keep yourself completely covered the whole time. Even when I thought I was being extra careful I still woke up with new bites in the morning so the little blighters must have found a way under the mosquito net.

Since becoming a T1 a couple of months ago I've read a lot about diabetes, and the risks of leg and foot problems etc. I'm already on anti-biotics because my right leg is swollen beloow the knee for no good reason that either myself or my GP could identify. I am now starting to get a bit worried about going to the Philippines again - should I be worried?? Have any of you faced this or a similar dilemma?
