Having a GTT

As I mentioned in a previous post I am having a GTT this week. I am planning to take my meter with me so I can check my levels myself during the test. However, I vaguely remember reading something about differing glucose levels in blood drawn from a vein in your arm and blood drawn at your finger tips. Is this correct?

Hi, When I have a glucose tolerence test, I test with my meter every 15 mins from the start of the test until 3hours after the test. I then plot a graph which gives me a profile of the test. You will be able to see when your body starts to bring the glucose spike under control and then bring your bm.s back under control. If you do this whenever you do a test you will be able plot each result and with luck see an improvement. It will give you alot more information than just a number from the test results. I wouldn't worry to much about getting exactly the same result as the lab ( you never will ) . Both myself and my partner are type 2 and its surpising how diffent the two graphs are when we compare them. I take this and my daily bm profile to the gp in graph form at each appointment. It makes it very easy for him to see any changes that have occured over time, and better advise you on your management/ diet etc.
