Hay fever

My daughter for the first time ever came down with hay fever this year. Last night was particularly bad and in desperation I bought some Piriton tablets as they were all I could get. They didn't work! I do prefer natural remedies where possible, so today got her some Pollenna a homeopathic allergy reliever. I also gave her some Echinacea. Within half an hour all the symptoms had cleared.

I thought I would share this as allergen time is well and truly upon us, and if just one person can find relief, then I would be thrilled. I get the Pollenna from Holland and Barrett.
 
Thanks Defren. I know the score only too well. Born with chronic Asthma, spent a day a week during school going to hospital for breathing training, ( great ormond street) and had all associated complaints from Eczema to HAYFEVER. All thankfully now gone other than the hayfever. Now use a Clarityn equivalent ( don't use real one, ten times as expensive, use sainsburys equivalent with IDENTICAL formula) and a mild steroid nose spray. But will try anything!

My daughters eyes had puffed up so much she couldn't see. They were running and really red, she looked dreadful. It was so bad she was sent home from school. As I say within half an hour after taking the Pollenna all the symptoms were gone and (touch wood) have not come back.

I have a family of "sneezers and wheezers" and we go through nightmares each summer. My daughter was suffering badly from Hayfever and I too tried the "natural route", unfortunately for us it was a very expensive (best part of £30) waste of time, it didn't help her in the slightest. I am very glad to hear that the natural remedy has helped for your daughter.

It's a bit like diabetes and our own individual food foibles..the only way we know what works for us as individuals is by trying and testing! I did the asthma thing too Malc, spent most of my childhood and teen years in hospital and even now, the dreaded wheezitis still holds me in it's grip at this time of year. I use Cetirizine (Zirtac) and I buy it from the 99p store, they also have loretadine which doesn't seem to help me at all.

Different strokes and all that.. :wink:

Hi Angie, it really is all very individual, what will work for one person, won't touch another. The Pollenna was less than £10, around £8 I think (I Bought loads from H&B, I always do :oops: ) so can't be 100% sure, but for her it was worth a try as it did help. She has just poked her nose in to say goodnight, and she looks fine, puffiness gone, running gone and she can see. Each time she takes an Pollenna she also takes an Echinacea to help boost her up a bit. xx
 
I use cetirizine too, but find I have to take it continuously to build up a defence. No good if I wait for symptoms then pop one. Don't take them till the summer, then just have them as standard. With bad hits, I've even put my head in a bucket of cold water to try and cool it all down! Works temporarily!
