You too have brilliant numbers, there are now countless thousands of people all over the world coming off medication for type 2 after discovering that its not a "Chronic progressive disease" as we have been led to believe, propoganda funded by the big Pharmas, fortunately I have a young doctor, a very honest thai chap who told me from the beginning this could be controlled by "Lifestyle Changes" and boy was he correct.
Great result @Anthony1738 . Well done!
Are you going to continue or adapt this regime to maintain the blood glucose levels?
Well done @Anthony1738 that is an inspiring achievement.
Keep it up, and don't let complacency set in.
Hi @Anthony1738,
I agree -- it is encouraging to see more and more newbies (and even long-standing T2s) choose this route. It appears that word is slowly getting around.
My father was also a T2 diabetic and was never told that there isn't any other route than medication. Even, when I did some research, and suggested some changes, his doctor told him it was too late and since he had been a diabetic for such a long time, he wouldn't be making any insulin. It is very frustrating to see that doctors just assume that we don't make insulin based on a high Hba1c or time passed since diagnosis. In my opinion, all newly diagnosed T2s should be given an insulin test.
My doctor, unfortunately, wasn't as progressive as yours. He told me on diagnosis that there would be no choice but going onto insulin given my high Hba1c. I wonder whether he is aware that this type of advice is very discouraging -- it almost caused me to not even try.
Luckily -- I also happened upon a website that encouraged a low-carb life style for diabetics (Blood Sugar 101). This saved my life.
What does your doc say after you've turned your diabetes around?
Hi @ziggy_w, and good morning from a very sunny Thailand, I agree its interesting to note that different doctors have different views, two of my close friends here are type 2, both of them are long term and both of them have been told by their doctors just take the medication and control it best you can, I spoke with both of them at the time I was diagnosed and both had the same reaction, You will go on Metformin, a small dose at first and then it will gradually increase and when it stops working you will go on Insulin injections. Untill I did my research, and showed them the weekly results, week 1 FSB 269 down to 180, week two down to 130, so one of my friends took a similar diet plan to me and increased his rate of excersise, he is now down from 17 pills per day to 2, in a very short space of time, hes been type 2 for eleven years btw. The other one (hes German) and flies home to see his doctor once every six Months, he told me I was talking ******** because his Doctor said so. Hes still injecting himself with insulin 3 or four times a day, and developing nueropathy in his legs, and he firmly beilieves he has no hope of reversing his condition, just because his doctor says so. So Sad. I would dearly love to help him but he will not listen.
I had a right laugh with my doctor on the last visit, I walked in sat down, good morning doc, I said, he replied with a frown, your blood glucose levels are better than mine!! Lay of the carbs and beer I replied haha, yes he just congratulated me on my efforts, but he did remind me that I cannot go back to my old ways of drinking 10 bottles of beer per day.
OK thats it for today, time for my daily walk along the beach. bfn
