Hi .. i know this is a silly question but will ask anyway .. my home testing monitor readings 80% all coming up as non diabetic range ( am prediabetic been on low carb and lost over a stone in weight ) due for my Hb1ac test in 4 weeks time .. question is .. is there a way of getting an average home reading to see what my status now would be (pre or otherwise) before my Hb1ac .. thanks

Hi,this website has some tools on it you can use for this...put your average readings in from yr metre and it will convert to hab1c.....how accurate it is not sure and unless u test during the night yr metre won't reflect over night early morning readings which for some are higher.

All the best.

Hi .. many thanks for the very useful link .. checked out my average on the blood monitor .. came up as 5.2 over 90 days .. result when i applied on the converor was ... 29.8 IFCC MMOL/MOL .. thanks Daffodils and catinahat .. my low carb diet and over a stone weight loss has worked .. I HOPE

My HbA1c is always a bit higher than my my monitor scores would suggest. I've even done several days of testing every hour, on the hour, including through the night, and still must miss some spikes. Unless we have access to a continuous glucose monitor, which is well calibrated, we may or may not get a score close to our monitors.

On our spot checks, via the monitor, we should be looking for trends, and personal ranges. For instance, my fasting personal range is 3.5-4.5, so I know if I'm running between these lines im doing fine. I have similar bands for my other routines test times.

It may not give me any kind of accurate correlation with emu HbA1c, but at least I'd know fairly promptly if I was going off-plan.

I'd suggest if your next HbA1c is your first since diagnosis, that you do a finger prick test immediately before or after the venous blood is drawn for the lab to compare that fasting level with the lab results. Although an HbA1c doesn't need to be a fasting test, as lipids are often done at hem A&E time, it is done fasting. If find that comparison useful as another mental bench mark.

Good luck with it all.

With the libre I've had both slightly higher and slightly lower hba1c takes than the software predicted....
