Hi I just got my result back from my second ever hba1 test it was 6.3 the receptionist had to be pushed and pushed to give me the numbers as she kept saying all was fine ...you dont need to know the number unless your diabetic .Could anybody tell me if the result is ok or not i was starting to lose the will to live speaking to her. Im type 2 diagnosed in late January and on metformin twice a day first reading was 8.7 i think ...thanks in advance

the reception staff at my doctors seem very irritated if you actually have the cheek to ask them a question, they are rude, understandable really as they spent all those years in medical school, they personally pay my national insurance contributions and own my medical records, their time is far more important than our health, we should do as we are told, not research anything for ourselves and just take the tablets we are given without question, lol sorry to rant, dont get me started about the 2 week wait to see a doctor whilst they have a massive poster outside advertising for new patients

Well done Jim, that's a great result. Keep up the good work and you will be even lower next time. Ask for a print out of your blood results, you are entitled to them and will find them interesting and useful.

I had bloods taken last month, I got a call from my drs surgery saying there was a problem with 1 of the tests and it has to be done again. I asked what the problem was and they said we're not trained enough to tell you, so I have a telephone drs appt on the 14th so almost 3 weeks of no idea of the problem!!

Hi sarah im sure all will be well when you get the results ...its really only one of my receptionists ...maybe she failed her doctors exams or has ideas above her post....either way it makes for an unpleasant experience phoning or going in for the results....im quite new to this as i had been in good health with few visits to the docs

Well done Jim

There are two receptionists at my local surgery. It is like Russian roulette when you phone up. Luckily, I got the nice one when I phoned for results yesterday. The other one tells you nothing lol

Hi thanks its been a steep learning curve these last three months this site has given me 99.9% more information and help than the nhs
