Hi Guys,

Newbie to the boards and to diabetes on the whole. When diagnosed 3 months ago my HBA1C was 9.6%. I take 3 500mg Metformin a day and today my HBA1C result was 6%. Is this good? What should I be aiming for?

Thanks guys.

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum Yes, an HbA1c result of 6.0 is good - you should keep it under 6.5. But lower is better. In this information is some more advice about levels - these are the NICE recommended levels which are really a maximum and you should keep your levels below these. Mine are well below the maximum and I feel more comfortable with them that way. This information was compiled by our friends Sue and Ken, former monitors, for new members. I hope you will find it useful. Ask as many questions as you like as there is always someone here who will be pleased to answer.

Hi CanveyDave and welcome to the forum. Yes 6% is very good after just 3 months you must be doing something right

I always think of the Feelgoods whenever I think of Canvey
