So this week i had some great news.
I was diagnosed in February with hba1c of 113
By my 3 month test i'd managed to get it down to 48
The NHS didnt want to see me for another 6 months - but as I am to impatient to wait that long I went for a private test last week.
hba1c has come back at 38 - to say i am over the moon is an understatement.

At the same time as having my hba1c test done i decided to pay for a Fasting Insulin test and those results came in at 2.74 ulu/ml - I've not had one before so not really got anything to reference it against but the range they show as normal is between 2.5 and 24.9 so i am making the assumption its a great result. Just wondering why they don't do this test on the NHS as surely its relevent to my ongoing management of my Type2?

That's great news @Sammydoos . No wonder you are pleased.

I have that same view, why don't they routinely test your C-Peptides ?
C- Peptides are usually tested, rather than insulin, as insulin is very unstable and deteriorates quickly outside the body and C-Peptides are produced along side Insulin. C-Peptides remain stable for longer. When insulin rises and falls, so do the C-Peptides. I've asked my own Dr why we don't test C-Peptide levels and he agrees, but like the UK , Canadian Drs have to follow guidelines.

Edited to add sentence.
