Injections,
Well as of Wednesday and my first visit to the DSN, I got my print out and my HbA1c which is 10.6%, is this good/bad or average?
I have drastically changed my diet over the last two weeks and have seen a steady decline of my BG. At the moment I am only testing 3 times a day, 1st thing in the morning, when I get home from work, and when I go to bed, until I am at a constant-ish level I will then start testing BG before and 2hrs after eating to see what spikes me and what doesn't, would this be the way to go?
also now my levels are under 10, been in single figures all week, which I am happy about, but confused as to why I am say 5.0 at bedtime and when I do a test when I wake it is around 3% higher! is this normal? and why does it raise overnight?
Also the nurse said carb wise I should be aiming for 10-15g for breakfast, around 30 for lunch and 30 for dinner, is she talking total carbs or what sugars?
and what would you recommend ? are all carbs bad or is it just the carbs that turn to sugar?
I am happy now my levels are near normal, but know the hard work has only just begun, I want to get this stabalised asap but know it will take time, I seem to have had it fairly easy so far with no major side effect of the diabetes or Metformin, apart from the stone and a half of lost wait pre diagnosis and I have noticed a decline in my focus of vision in my eyes, but have been told when I get used to normal BG levels this should/could return to normal.
any advise on the above would be greatly received. If you would like any other info of my print out let me know.
thanks again
Gary

I have the results going back 5 years because of the tablets I was on for migraines, and in 14/01/14 my mmol/L was 7.2! the nurse (not a DSN) didn't believe I had fasted from the previous day, would that be classed as pre-diabetic? this has slightly upset me, because if that was pre-diabetic and she had believed me, maybe we could have done something about it???

hmm, I think the nurse should have twigged something was wrong and not questioned if I had fasted or not. May have to have a word next visit, as I said I am not happy with them because of this, why on earth would I lie about whether I had fasted or not? what gain would that have had ??? Grrr, go figure!
