Thanx MikeD. My doc has tried before when I was first diagnosed. I did some research and told him noBe wary that your GP might recommend statins .. and if that happens, do some research of this site. I do exercise and lots of it
hello poshtotty. my hdl is low and my ldl is high. I don't know what trigs means sorry. im doing a 30min treadmill brisk walk now, 3 times a week, aiming to up it to 5 times and gradually increase my fitness, which was zero in aug last yr. im just not sure what to do now to reduce my ldl and increase my hdl.Congratulations on your weight loss and improved HbA1c and for having your GP on side. A recommendation of statins is purely hypothetical at this stage. More important is reassurance that a higher cholesterol reading in most cases is only temporary and is something many of us experience when commencing LCHF. If you can be patient it is quite likely it will go back down again, but in any event it is the overall breakdown which is important. Do you have the breakdown of your other numbers ie LDL, HDL and Trigs?
Hi. I don't eat bread or its ingredients in any form, no potatoes or pastas as part of my diet and I've started brisk walks. Its worked for me.Give up on medication to many side affects diabetic nurse wants me go back on meds but my hb1ac is 57 any suggestions please
I believe diabetics have higher LDL in the bloodstream and that is why doctors normally push it. But the LCHF diet should reduce itEven though my cholesterol wasn't too high, my doctor put me on statins.
See the Ken Sikaris "Cholesterol, when to worry" youtube video. I believe nuts olives and avacados helpim just not sure what to do now to reduce my ldl and increase my hdl.
Mine has gone up and up since diagnosis in March. Doctor has arranged a new test to check. There are suggestions on the DietDoctor website. Some people have an exaggerated cholesterol response to LCHF[/QUOTE][QUOTE="annie134, post: 1049645, member: 191375" BUT my cholesterol has gone up.and I now need to tackle this.
