My last 2 HbA1c results, 4 months apart were both 43mm. Ive followed low carb duet, lost weight and dropped from 98mm when diagnosed to 58 then the last two of 43mm.My doctor is pleased with me BUT my cholesterol has gone up.and I now need to tackle this. But I don't know where to start and really need help, guidance & advice from tho fantastic forum please.

Be wary that your GP might recommend statins .. and if that happens, do some research of this site. I do exercise and lots of it

Congratulations on your weight loss and improved HbA1c and for having your GP on side. A recommendation of statins is purely hypothetical at this stage. More important is reassurance that a higher cholesterol reading in most cases is only temporary and is something many of us experience when commencing LCHF. If you can be patient it is quite likely it will go back down again, but in any event it is the overall breakdown which is important. Do you have the breakdown of your other numbers ie LDL, HDL and Trigs?

This is a big worry for us - my husband has had 3 heart attacks and is on statins - has been for years -but wants to come off them. He has managed to reduce the dose from 40mg to 10mg and is now trying one month without any.

Mine has gone up and up since diagnosis in March. Doctor has arranged a new test to check. There are suggestions on the DietDoctor website. Some people have an exaggerated cholesterol response to LCHF
