Do you have a glucose meter? It's nearly impossible to gain good control without one.The nurse agreed to hold of medication and give me a 10 weeks to see how much I can control it myself.
great idea then you can see which foods cause your blood sugar to rise and you can avoid them in future..Hi yes have meter, will take readings every morning to track my progress and also pre post meals.
Hi. I'm surprised at the nurse. At that HBa1C level you must go onto medication (see NICE Diabetes Pathways). If you have excess weight then a low-carb diet is essential together with meds as well - typically that would be Metformin. The meds can always be reduced. If you don't have excess weight then suspect you are a T1 not T2. If so medication is essential and there are two tests for T1. If you don't already have a meter then do buy one. Your aim must be to get below around 53 mmol HBa1C as soon as you can.
I am eating the same way as I was last year, and my weight is the same, but my hbA1C has gone through the roof, from last year when I last had my blood test. The nurse agreed to hold of medication and give me a 10 weeks to see how much I can control it myself.
Any idea why it would suddenly become so worse?
