People that dont understand diabetics and all that goes with having diabetes
Hi Not been on the website for a while, but got my latest Hba1c today, it was 39 or 5.71% that a drop of at least 1& since my last test 6 months ago.

What I find strange is I have not changed my diet at all really perhaps slightly less as I have lost 6lbs in weight the only other change that I have made is to reduce my Glicizide to 120mg from 320mg and increase my metformin to 1000mg. Just wondering if this means that I am not producing much insulin or I am resistant to insulin. Thus the increased metformin is having a greater effect than the previoous higher dose of Glicazide. Either way I am really pleased with the results and hope things stay this way for a while as its been a tough year since I had a heart attack in January though back to full health now and able to go and do my usual active lifestyle once more.

That's spurious precision

Well... T2 diabetics tend to produce plenty of insulin; problem is just that they'd need even more to keep BG adequately controlled because of their insulin resistance so I don't think this question can be meaningfully answered.

Weight loss will have increased insulin sensitivity, Metformin reduces endogenous glucose production and Glicazide increase insulin production.
Generally, it's preferable to use Metformin first, at the highest tolerated dose; both reduce BG, but Metformin will not result in hypos or lead to weight gain.
Arguably, Metformin is also closer to fixing the problem rather than just addressing the symptoms (putting excess glucose away by increasing insulin production and/or introducing external insulin).

So, well done on improving your control.
