Spicey food, taxi drivers, hypos & hypers, pigeons, hospitals, dentists, my GP, my ****** immune system.
My HBA1C was just tested and I have gone from 9.1 to 10.2 in the space of 4 months. Haven't changed anything I'm doing. In fact I eat less now and have also lost near a stone (14 lbs). Can't work it out. I also have no awareness of hypos. I don't eat white bread or pasta either.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Sorry to hear things have gone a 'little' in the undesired direction..

Have you noticed changes when you are checking you levels throughout the day? I know my next HBA1c is going to be higher as my average readings are a bit higher lately due to the fact that I have not been as strict with diet and training...

My view is that the hba1c should really just confirm what you already know if you are yesting regularly so based on your regular checking was this a shock or not? If you are doing everything the same (including insulin units) it could be that you need to increase your insulin by a unit etc as your pancreas may have now completely stopped producing insulin altogether.

Obviously don't take my advice, speak to your team and see what they suggest.

Hi Joelcam

I've been a type 1 for 14 years and have had problems with it being high before. At one point my HBA1C was 17. I've noticed I wake up to double figure readings in the morrnings now. I have been trying to lose weight as I'm 19 stone. This is the only change I've made. I have been to my GP (also a specialist in Diabetes) and he is puzzled. He is referring me to the hospital diabetic clinic for "education" which hopefully will do something!

Thanks for replying :D
