Hba1c result feeling overwhelmed :/

Hi guys,

I am new here. For the last few years I have been in the pre diabetic range. Last year I lost 3 stone and got my HBA1C result to 41 and I was thrilled. This year we have had a lot of stuff going on and I have turned to eating my feelings. I am so cross with myself for doing this and gained 2 stone. I knew that my hba1c would go up. But I am sue surgery and they have checked and it’s crept up to 49. I understand it’s 48 and above to be diagnosed with diabetes. They are re checked in 2 weeks time as they said that it can be up for a number of reasons and do not diagnose from one blood test result. Can this happen? Could I go back in two weeks time and it be back to the pre diabetic range and I will
Not be diagnosed with T2 diabetes? It’s most certainly given me the kick up the bum I need to get my diet back on track. I am only young and have two boys.

Bearing in mind your 49 is on the cusp of diagnostic levels for T2, it is sensible they are repeating the test. If it comes back under 48, the chances are you will not be diagnosed with T2.

I would, however, urge you to take the opportunity to refocus on improving those numbers.

I hope life has or does settle down for you. Upset and stress are no fun.
