Please don't be offended by what I say but your hba1c is very low for someone who is insulin dependant. I would take a guess that a lot of your daily bg levels are going somewhere between 4 and 7 or even lower and that although you may have decent hypo awareness now, you will find over the next year or so, that your hypo warning signs will start to change and you will only pick up them when your bg levels fall between 2 - 3mmol. As a consequence you will find yourself having to test your bg levels very frequently probably about 6-8 times a day just to keep yourself ok and out of hypo land. It will be similar to trying to walk on a thin tightrope which you could very easily fall off of.
I certainly would not want to get my hba1c any lower than 6.7 unless advised to by a consultant. Because of the way bolus/basal affects bg levels, many consultants are getting more and more concerned about hypoglycaemia and are now recommending insulin dependant diabetics to get their bg levels up a bit so that their hba1c is around the high 6's or low 7's.
