I have a couple of suggestions that worked for me for A1c and Trigs -
A1c - Ever since I started using a Half unit pen, my control is a lot tighter. I test levels a bit more too, and even if i'm 6 or 7 i'll take a half unit to get a point or so. I have less fear of hypos taking half units as opposed to rounding ups etc.
Trigs/LDL - Exercise more! You need to increase your good fats- mono/poly/EFA - start the day each morning with a vegetable/fruit smoothie and some wholemeal toast. Spinach, Broc, Carrot, Walnut, Blueberries all make good smoothie ingreds (add some ribena for a nice taste). with multi vit & Omega 3/vit E supps. This will lower your insulin resistance and cholesterol within a couple of months
I eat a LOT of carbs. Refined carbs on days i exercise, and a sweet tooth - but I exercise a lot and include many fiber/veg/fruit too.
BMi is 23, A1c 5.5 & Chol is 4.5 (HDL 2.1, LDL 2.2, Trigs 0.3)
