I have got my HbA1c from yearly checkup gone down to 44 which I think is good as they were 78 then 52. I am currently on two 500mg metformin daily. Going to see nurse on June 10th about results. Will I be taken off tablets as levels gone down. Just a bit of adivse would help. As this will only be third time I have seen her sine been diagnosed.

Oh well done Tbird, that is brilliant news. Whatever you are doing is certainly working for you. Keep it up. I can't help about the medication. All I can say is my HbA1c's have been 53 then 50 and no mention of medication as yet. Next test due in a month.

My HbA1c was 40 and DN asked me to consider going onto met - go figure. Mainly because it has other health benefits for the heart.

My GP is adamant that even if I lose all the weight and control BS levels, I'll be staying on metformin because of its protective effects. As it is also good for the hirsuteness associated with hormonal conditions, my chin is feeling grateful for that already ;-)
