hi

I am not diagnosed as diabetic at this time, but have been having a lot of the symptoms, thirsty and going to the toilet a lot, pins and needles, hunger, blurry vision and feeling generally unwell. So today I had a Blood fasting test and they have since rang me and told me that it was high, and that I need to have a hba1c test this tuesday,

I was just wondering what happens when you get the results of the hba1c?, if it comes back as a normal reading even though my fasting blood was high what will this mean?.... can anyone shed any light on this?

Any help or insights would be greatly appreciated

Hi, if you have an un quenchabe thirst and are having frequent visits to the toilet I wouldn't wait for the gp. Go to a and e. These are signs of ketones, did your surgery check for sugar in your urine?

Hba1c is a measurement that gives an average blood sugar level over the past three months or so. Patients are often given a target Hba1c and told to change their lifestyle until they meet the target.

This site has some information about it.
