Since you need an HbA1C below 69 for your surgery (and I presume your GP knows that). Then I would expect them to have done an HbA1C again even though it has been less than 2 months since the last. Tests are not usually done less than around 3 months apart since the result is an average over the lifespan of your red blood cells - which are replaced about every 3 months.
If I want/need a particular blood test done, I always ask the surgery if they can include it on the list and give my reason. I feel that I have a responsibility for my health, even more than my GP does when it comes to diabetes because I feel I know more about my diabetes than they do.
