hi , i was diagnosed with type two about four years ago and i have been in denial for a lot of the time
i finally decided last week to start taking this seriously as im scared of long term complications. i had my hba1c last friday and the results came back the same day at 25 not sure if this is percent or what, so i had to go to the gp and he started me on metformin.

i have a follow up with my gp this wednesday but im now terrified that i may have already developed heart disease, i cant think of anything else this is worrying me sick, can anyone say how long heart disease takes on average to develop, im worried sick here
also can they tell from the fbc if there are any heart problems, thanks julie.

Hello

I'm very new to all of this but I suspect I had Type 2 diabetes for many years before I was diagnosed and so I think I'm probably in the same place as you are now. I also had high cholestoral in the 8's and didn't take it seriously. I am not a doctor but I'm sure you are not about to have a heart attack. It is great that you are going to the doctor and he will be able to put your mind at rest I am sure. All we can both do now is just try our best to "be good!!" and try to reverse/slow down what we have done to ourselves so far. I have found that Type 2 has been a wake up call and will probably add to the lifespan I would have had if I hadn't started taking this seriously earlier this year. I now walk - a mile and a half every other day - not a lot but better than the "nil" that I was doing before. You are going to change what you do in future and will have a brighter future because of it. All the best.
